Planting out……..

Thankfully there has been  a break in the rain today (Wettest April for a 100 years according to the news) so made the most of it and headed down to the plot for a couple of hours after work. Have been waiting for a break to get on with transplanting by brassicas that have been raised from seed. The first lot of cauliflowers didn’t make it but the cabbage and white sprouting broccoli that were raised in seed trays outdoors have fared much better although did nearly get washed away in the recent deluge. Managed to plant them all out – a few more than originally anticipated but have gone for a bit of an experiment. I have separated some of the plants into individual seedlings and planted them in rows but have also planted a couple of rows as clumps without separating out the seedlings first just to see what happens. I have also managed to construct a netted enclosure for one of the crops using netting and canes that were part of the fruit cage that I dismantled previously.
